The Sketchbook Project

The Sketchbook Project: 2011

This weekend Ryno and I signed up for the Sketchbook Project organized by Art House Co-op. It costs $25 to buy your sketchbook. Each book has a barcode, so you can track it as it goes on an exhibition tour to the above locations. I believe it also includes Washington, D.C and Winter Park, FL. You can find information about it at Art House Co-op. Anyone in the world can participate and once the tour is over the sketchbooks are placed in the permanent collection of The Brooklyn Art Library.

I'm really excited to do this, because sketching has always been my weak point in the arts. Therefore, every time I have tried to discipline myself to sketch I usually get discouraged and give it up quickly. However, I think having a theme, a deadline and Ryno joining in on the fun I will be able to stay focused.

If you think you could enjoy this project I really recommend checking out the information on their website. I thought it was very inspirational to see the theme options and watch the CNN piece on a previous year's tour. Also, the deadline to apply has been extended to November 15th, so it's not too late to sign up. Enjoy!
