Saturday Bike Ride

The weather was beautiful in Austin this weekend. It was so warm Saturday night, so Ryno was able to convince me we should practice my bike riding skills a little more. If you have ever seen the ABC tv show Modern Family, I am comprable to Gloria when Jay is trying to teach her to ride a bike (if not here is the episode). It isn't that I never learned to ride a bike; it just turns out a road bike requires better balance than the mountain bikes I road as a kid. We met up with Ryno's brother on Eastside and rode through some neighborhoods. By the end of the night I was able to ride on the streets with heavier traffic and stay safely in my designated bike lane. I also was much more comfortable reaching low to grab my breaks. The only thing I am still having difficulty with is my gears. I mentioned before that my bike is my dad's 1970's bike he rode when he first graduated from college. I love that we were able to fix it up, and that I can ride it now. However, there are a few things that are a bit of a challenge and the gears are one of those things. I think it will be fine though, once I get a better feel for it. Also, I will post a photo of it soon. I haven't ridden in daylight yet, but I will take a picture to share when I do. I thought the photo of the couple above was so sweet, and I hope that will be me and Ryno once I get the hang of it all.

Also, I wanted to leave a Happy Birthday wish for a dear friend. She has made working with horses her life, and I am so happy for her to be able to pursue her passion. We learned to ride together for a time, although she never stopped riding. I hope you have a very happy day!
