We had a busy Memorial Day weekend. My parents came to visit for the long weekend and to work on some house remodeling projects. So far we have accomplished quite a bit, but my greatest contributions have been in the painting and weeding projects. Mom and I still have quite a ways to go on grooming the garden. I'm hoping we will be able to pull together a vegetable garden before the week is out. I will share photos if it comes together.
I have my hopes set on manicures tomorrow. I'm thinking pink or a nod to sea blue.
I've been using Pinterest for a bit now without an account just searching and saving images for myself. It turns out I love it so much, and my sister invited me to join...win! Check out the lovely things you can find on Pinterest.
Congrats to my sister on graduating with her doctorate this weekend! She also landed a stellar post-doctorate position. Unfortunately, it isn't in Texas, but we're happy for her and know that she will totally rock at her new job! We had a lot of fun celebrating with family and her friends this weekend. It was cool to meet everyone she has spoken of while she was in school. I thought I would share some of the photos we took during the celebration.
We enjoyed lunch at Blue Mountain Brewery on Saturday before graduation. It had amazing views of the Blue Ridge Mountain, and the weather was perfect!
While I was in Vancouver, I couldn't resist picking up a few small souvenirs. Whenever I go on a trip like this for work I like to buy a small token to remind me of that particular trip. So my big purchase was a ceramic vase from dahlhaus. I love it so much for the simplicity of the shape paired with the fun pop of lime green. I chose green from all the possible colors, because one of the things I loved most about Vancouver was how green everything was from all the rain. While Austin is pretty green for Texas, it doesn't stand a chance next to Vancouver. Also, I bought a few letterpress blocks. The store was called Urban Source on Main Street, and the selection was small so I bought the ones that held the most interest to me. I love how the number 4 block has a notch cut out of it!
It's rainy here, really just a drizzle. However, we will take what we can get. It's great to have a little rain for once. Happy Thursday!
ps- We loved Bridesmaids. We had such a fun time and the movie was hilarious!
Since Ryno and I are going to be spending the weekend in Virginia at my sister's graduation. We decided to move our date night up to tonight! We are going to check out Bridesmaids at Alamo Drafthouse. I am very excited; Kristen Wiig is hilarious. I will report back later this week with our impressions. I hope everyone is having a great week. I am finally feeling settled back into my life, it's awesome!

I am back from Canada! Sorry for the long break here. I was just catching up with everything I missed for the past two weeks. I had a great time in Canada, and enjoyed site-seeing when there was time for it. I may have also done a wee bit of shopping, and I will share photos of what I bought later. Until then here are some shots of the beautiful scenery.
I am in the great land of Canada for the first time ever! I am really excited to be here, and I am looking forward to coming home and sharing all the details of my trip. However, for now I am a little technically challenged so I will probably not be able to post again until next week. Until then I will just say I LOVE my green hunter boots! They are really making me smile today!
