I hope everyone is having a great Fourth of July! We spent all of today working on preparing our yard for a garden. We had to clear out the weeds and flatten the land before laying down the Weedblock cloth. After that we rewarded ourselves with plant shopping. It seemed like we may be motivated to finish the project if we had plants to put in the garden. We bought some herbs, okra, peppers and a large variety of tomato plants. Now we are going to build our planter boxes and then we get to start planting! Elton has really enjoyed this project too. As soon as we started moving the dirt around he ran over and began rolling in the dirt piles.... someone is getting a bath tonight.
I'm sad the long weekend is almost over.; we've had a really fun time working on projects around the house. Also, we have done a lot of cooking or I should say Ryno has cooked a lot. Since we can't grill out, we are making pan-seared scallops for dinner tonight with blueberry cobbler for dessert. I'm glad Ryno thought to make cobbler, otherwise, it really wouldn't feel like the Fourth at all. No fireworks or even sparklers! I hope you are able to enjoy some the festivity of the evening!
Below are photos I took of our friends' garden. Isn't it inspiring?
I hope ours will be even half as successful.
Also, we took a trip to San Antonio Friday; I will share photos tomorrow.
