We had a great weekend exploring places we have yet to try in Austin. Funny enough our weekend of exploration started at Mellow Mushroom on campus. We've walked by it so many times, but Saturday was our first time trying it here. Mellow was a frequent date spot for us when we lived in Atlanta, but when we got here we wanted to try new places. The nice thing about this Mellow is they have pizzas unique to Austin, so even if you have been to other locations there are still new things to try.
After lunch we walked over to Tyler's, a locally owned sports store. It is a go-to place for local t-shirts and vintage-inspired clothing. We were there looking for Austin City Limits shirts. Ryno and I both decided to pick one up. Then we drove to South Congress to try out a store a friend told me about called Parts & Labour. They sell a range of goods from local artists. After a day of shopping around, we went to check out an album release party at Swan Dive. The band performing was the Monarchs, which was a fun band to see. They did an Outkast cover that was pretty fantastic, since their music style is very much the opposite of Outkast.
