road test

My favorite article in any Real Simple magazine is called "Road Tests." The column selects a product such as sunscreen, hummus or water bottles and tests them with a user group. Then the top performers are divided into "best of" categories. I really enjoy the brief, informative descriptions. I spent a good portion of the afternoon going through the "Road Tests" available through the Real Simple website. My favorites are below.

(all images and ratings via Real Simple)

bkr bottle: best under wraps

Burt's Bees Tinted Lip Balm: best sheer tint

You should check out They basically post in depth reviews of the "best" of certain household items: the best toaster oven, watering can, bath towel, baby monitor, etc. It's by the people who came up with, which is basically the same thing, but for tech stuff. They do A LOT of research. I have no idea how they write so much about things like tweezers.

Thanks Eric! I've never heard of The Sweet Home. I just popped over to their site, and I can already tell I'm going to love it! I already shared a link with Ryno for the drill they recommend; we've been talking about getting a new power drill.
