the drums

Happy Friday! This will be short and sweet. We went to a friends' wedding last weekend, and their first dance was to the song "Down By The Water" by The Drums. I thought it was very sweet and wanted to share it here. Have a great weekend!

diy invisible trellis

This Spring we refreshed our yard with the help of a friend. She planted Wisteria and Climbing Roses to grow on our fence. Then Ryno and I added blackberries to grow along another fence line. I spent Sunday constructing invisible trellises from eye hooks and wire. It was a very straight forward process that only required a few tools. I found inspiration for patterns here.

  • drill with correct bit size
  • level
  • wire cutters
  • eye hooks or bolts
  • galvanized wire

1. gather tools, 2. mark out points following along with your design, 3. insert eye bolts 4. tighten bolts from the back side of the fence, 5. run wire through the eye bolts and twist it to secure, 6. tape plants to trellis

happy earth day

Hope you're having a wonderful Earth day! I thought to celebrate I'd share a few images from the garden series I've been working on recently. The paintings are all inspired by our new garden, and I just had them in a local art show earlier this month.

bunny hop lane

Hope you had a wonderful Easter weekend! Ryno and I managed to really pack our weekend full with a wedding, a day of yard work and time spent with family.

Friday afternoon we spent at Mercury Hall for our friends' wedding. It was a really beautiful wedding with lots of personal touches that made it so sweet. The photographer is also a close friend of theirs, and she captured the wedding so perfectly. Her blog post for it is here and a sample of the wedding photos are here. Below are a few of our photos from the night too.

Our Easter celebration was relaxed and simple this year; dinner with my parents and sister on Saturday night. Then we spent Sunday in the yard. Ryno removed all the grass in the side yard and cut apart an invasive vine, while I trained our garden vines to grow on invisible trellises. More to come on that this week.

lady bird

I'm definitely a bit behind here due to a cold that lasted all through the weekend. Now that I'm feeling better, I'm excited to share everything we've been up to over the past week and a half. Let's work backwards shall we?

Yesterday, we went to the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center with my mom. She and I share a serious love for the wildflowers in particular the bluebonnets. I couldn't get enough of them! The Wildflower Center truly shines in the Springtime when all of the wildflowers are in bloom, however, they definitely have full gardens throughout the Summer and Fall. The best part was the free tour led by their horticulturist about the sustainability used within the gardens and the center. Lots of exciting information to bring back to our own gardens!

Last week we attended the Final Four in Arlington, Texas with Ryno's family. We were there to cheer on the Florida Gators, but they were knocked out by UConn. Even with the disappointing loss we still enjoyed our time in Dallas with everyone. We checked out the aquarium, JFK museum and a few favorite restaurants.

I'm loving Tumblr, and it has become a new way to whittle away time lately. Here are a few images I'm loving...

We were pretty busy this weekend. Ryno and I both took part in a bachelor/bachelorette party on Saturday. The parties were separate, but for the same couple. We girls had a fairly low key night that ended with fondue at my place. It was really fun, and I'm looking forward to breaking out my fondue pot again soon!

Sorry no photos yet... I need to scan them in still!
