dead oak farm

We had a great weekend, and really appreciated the gorgeous weather in anticipation of the fast approaching cold and sleet. Our friends recently welcomed an adorable baby goat to their farm family, and I was desperate to go hold it before it became standard goat size. Ryan and I drove out to their farm on Saturday, and spent a wonderfully relaxed afternoon with them. It was even better than I imagined to hold the tiny goat, and we laughed a lot as their herding dogs kept Elton on the move the entire time.

the great outdoors

Here's what I've been pinning lately...

Also, have you seen the new Vanity Fair shoot by Chuck Close? A group of twenty celebrities are photographed with little make-up or no make-up using a 20-by-24-inch Polaroid camera. The behind the scenes shots are fantastic. Check them out here.

Flavored water recipes are popping up all over the place, and it's something I really want to start having readily available at home. I've read a lot of articles lately about the benefits of drinking the recommended eight glasses of 8 ounces of water everyday, but I've never been particularly good at having more than three a day. I honestly tend to get bored drinking water, and end up switching to tea or soda.  I'm gathering flavored water recipes, and hope to test out a few this weekend. Here are the recipes I'm the most excited to try. Do you love flavored water? Any great recipes you enjoy?

This recipe is very similar to what we served at our house warming, but it includes a few slices of cucumber too, which sounds really refreshing!

happy February!

No excuses, I've been completely absent from all of you for awhile now. I'm very excited to be back! I hope to post frequently again now that we're through the holidays. I'm also going to attempt to create an actual structure here for the week as well as share blogs that I follow. It turns out that some of my dear friends have their own blogs now, and even if I don't personally know a blogger I still love to share everything that is inspiring me with all of you so what better way than a blog love list!

Now a quick recap of December and January! I'll go into everything in some greater detail in the next couple weeks, but for now here's what we've been up to lately.

birthday celebrations...

We call it the birthday week, since our birthdays are so close together. Ryno and I decided to plan an adventure for our birthdays. We enjoyed a week in San Francisco followed by a few days in Texas hill country with my family. Ryno surprised me with a ukelele!
